What education is needed to become a Tattoo artist?
I am 15 years old. I am a current graffiti artist. I am one of the best drawers in my school. And thats what i wish to do as a adult, draw. And i figure since i want Tattoos of my one love, graffiti, i figured why not give other people tattoos of what they love.

First of you need raw talent–which you seem to have. Make sure you build up a portfolio throughout your high school and college career of a wide range of techniques and media, don’t be a “one trick pony”. You can do this by joining fine arts classes at your school or a local art center, or, if you’re really interested, going to an arts school, but that’s a whole nother story.
Then, when you’re old enough, you need to get an apprenticeship: A more experienced tattoo artist/master/sensei teaches you the ropes on everything dealing with tattoos. Sometimes they’ll do it for free, other times, they’ll require pay. Make sure the artist is one who’s style you admire or would like to achieve then do the apprenticeship. But realize, you won’t be getting paid for the time you’re in training which can last 1-2 years so make sure you have a job on the side.
Finally, there isn’t an average salary of a tattoo artist, it’s like…Kat Von D probably gets paid more than the local tattoo artist in Oklahoma or whatever. It depends on your skill and how much time and money you’re willing to put into it. But the “average” if you need statistics is about $100 per hour..
